What really struck me about this photo was the sense of dimensionality. It's not all that unusual to find a composition like this, but this one is unusual for its range of effects and its balance.
At first glance, it's a set of parallel contrails, but it's puzzling because one is dissipating and the other is solid (one expects them to be parallel even if there's a logical reason for them to be different). Their different textures contrasts their parallel direction.
Even knowing that one is looking up, because of the composition and the tonal balance, one gets the sense that this could be a flat image viewed horizontally.
And knowing the above, one also gets the sense that one could be looking down at this, and that it is two lines of waves breaking on a strange beach where the sand and water have become the same gray because of some strange phenomenon.
Although there are lots of contrail photos in dA, this one is especially mysterious. The only distracting feature is the copyright notice in the lower left corner (it keeps catching the eye!).
Cheers!

Oh my, to borrow from David Ward... mystery, simplicity, beauty. You have to look at the image and linger to figure it out, not just an emotionally empty pretty picture.
